At the same time, blood tests carried out on Coco showed health problems: “she may have kidney stones, as well as a genetic eye disease which affects her vision and is probably the result of negligent breeding”, according to the Monmouth County SPCA.
Coco will soon be offered for adoption
Described as “sweet, loyal and loving”, Coco will stay at the shelter until she gets back on her feet and can be put up for adoption.
The former owners have been charged with animal cruelty and will face two counts: “cruel coercion and failure to provide necessary care”.
